Harley Davidson Heritage Saddlebag Inserts – Is It Worth?

If your tired of saggy saddlebags and are looking for a way to make them look new again, then Leather Lid Inserts is for you.

When I first purchased my Pre-Owned Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic last year I noticed that the bags were looking pretty saggy and worn out. I asked the sales rep at the dealership how much a new set of saddlebags were and he replied, "You can purchase a new set for around $900." I turned my head, looked at my wife and she gave me the evil eye.

So when we got home I did some research and found a few companies that offered saddlebag restoration kits. The kits were all pretty much the same. They consisted of plastic pieces that fit between the seams of your saddlebags, but the only difference was all the companies offered different style lid inserts.

I was mostly interested in Leather Lid Inserts because their lid was form fitted and not flat. Plus, their inserts were about $20 cheaper, and we all like to save money in this economy.

I called them at about 11 pm at night, I had no idea considering they were on the eastern time clock. Either way, the owner of the company picked the phone up and talked to me for a good 10 minutes. He seemed very well spoken and convinced me that his inserts were the best. After the call, I went ahead and ordered the inserts.

About a week later I received a package in the mail labeled "Leather Lid Inserts." I got excited and ripped the box open to find some goodies. Not only did I receive the saddlebag inserts, but I also received a shiny new Lapel Pin, same biker magazines & a patch. After placing the goodies on the counter, I ran to the garage and started getting to the work.

The package came with an easy to follow set of instruction, it took me about an hour to install the inserts. The hardest part was getting the side inserts to fit, I ended up snipping off a few pieces of the inserts and then they fell into place.

After that I went onto the lid part, this was pretty easy, per the instructions I placed contact cement on the inside part of the lid. Then I went to my frig and cracked open a cold beer. Unfortunately, the package didn't come with a 6 pack. After I let the glue sit for about 5-10 minutes I placed the lid insert on top of the lid and wah lah! I was ready to show off my saddlebags.

The following Friday me and the wife took a trip up to the Blues Biker Bar and showed off our bags. My buddies couldn't believe it when I showed them... Their reaction was unreal. Being a biker, you have to take pride in your bike and make sure it's looking good. If not other bikers will just laugh at you when you turn your back. My experience with Leather Lid Inserts was superb. I highly recommend this product if you're looking to take the sag out of your bags.

I bought a real nice set of Heritage saddlebags from a guy that I want to put one of your kits in but I don’t know what year they came off. Any way I could talk to somebody and identify them and get kit orders?
